Crochet Mini Pig Keychain: A Quick Amigurumi Pig Head
A little round pig head: a 30-stitch ball of single crochet, an oval snout from a 3-chain start, two magic-ring ears and embroidered eyes. One of the shortest amigurumi videos in the series.

This pig is just a head: a round ball with a snout and two little ears. That makes it one of the quickest amigurumi you can make, and a good one for practising a stuffed ball before you take on a whole animal. The snout is a tiny oval that starts from three chains, and the ears are magic rings left unjoined so they curl like little half-moons.

Materials
- 5-ply milk cotton in light pink, darker pink, white and dark brown
- 3.0 mm hook
- Stuffing, a little blush (optional) and glue
- A stitch marker, scissors and a darning needle
Head
Joined rounds: slip stitch and chain 1 at the end of each.
Round | Instructions | Stitches |
|---|---|---|
1 | 6 sc in a magic ring | 6 |
2 | inc × 6 | 12 |
3 | [1 sc, inc] × 6 | 18 |
4 | [1 sc, inc, 1 sc] × 6 | 24 |
5 | [3 sc, inc] × 6 | 30 |
6 to 10 | 1 sc in each st | 30 |
11 | [3 sc, invisible dec] × 6 | 24 |
12 | [1 sc, invisible dec, 1 sc] × 6 | 18 |
13 | [1 sc, invisible dec] × 6 | 12 |
Stuff the head firmly after round 12. After round 13, cut a long tail, thread it through the last 12 loops and pull closed.
Snout
With darker pink, chain 3. Starting in the 2nd chain from the hook, work 1 sc in it, 3 sc in the end chain, then turn to the other side of the chain and work 2 sc in the remaining loop. Join with a slip stitch. (6, an oval)
Nostrils: split a length of white yarn to use only 3 of its plies, and stitch two short vertical lines in the middle of the snout.
Ears (make 2)
Work 6 sc into a magic ring, pull it closed and cut the yarn without joining with a slip stitch. Unjoined, the ear stays open in a soft half-moon.
Face
- Sew or glue the snout to the middle of the face.
- Attach the ears near the top of the head, a few rounds apart.
- Embroider dark brown eyes level with the top of the snout.
- Brush on a little pink blush for cheeks, if you like.
- Add a keyring through the top.
Tips
- Splitting the yarn makes the nostrils finer and neater. Untwist the end of a strand and separate a few plies.
- Eyes level with the snout look cutest. Place them before you stitch: pins help.
- Stuff in small pieces so the head stays round without lumps.
Frequently asked questions
Can I make a whole pig?
Yes: add a body like an amigurumi ball and four short legs. Our amigurumi ball pattern is a good base.
Why doesn't the ear get joined?
Leaving the magic ring unjoined keeps it as an open curve rather than a closed circle, which looks more like a pig's ear.
Can I use safety eyes?
Yes. Fit them between rounds 7 and 8 before you stuff. For a keychain that gets a lot of handling, embroidered eyes are more durable.
