Double Crochet is free to read. We pay for it through advertising and affiliate links. This page explains how that works and how we keep it from influencing what we write.

What an affiliate link is

Some links on the site go to stores that pay us a small commission if you buy something after clicking. These are affiliate links. The price you pay is the same whether or not you use our link. The commission comes out of the store's share, not your pocket.

Amazon Associates

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Double Crochet is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon. Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.

Prices and availability on Amazon change often. Any price or availability shown on Amazon at the time you buy is the one that applies. We do not show Amazon prices or customer star ratings on our pages unless Amazon provides them to us directly for that purpose.

Etsy and other stores

We may also earn commissions through the Etsy affiliate program and through other affiliate programs run by yarn shops, craft retailers and affiliate networks. When you buy from an Etsy shop or another store through our link, we may earn a commission. Etsy shops are run by independent sellers; we are not responsible for their products, shipping or customer service.

How you can tell

Affiliate links on review pages, buying guides and kit pages sit under a short notice that says the page contains affiliate links.
Buttons that send you to a store, such as "Check price on Amazon" or "View on Etsy", are affiliate links unless we say otherwise.
Affiliate links carry the rel="sponsored" attribute, which tells search engines that they are paid links.

How we keep recommendations honest

Commissions never decide what we recommend. We choose products on how well they work for crocheting, not on how much a store pays.
We do not accept payment for reviews or ratings. If a brand ever sends us a free product, we will say so clearly on the page where we discuss it, and it will not change our verdict.
Ratings are our own. We only give a product a rating when we have enough information to do it honestly, and we never copy customer reviews or star ratings from stores.
We correct mistakes. If a product changes or we get something wrong, we update the page. See our Editorial Policy.

Advertising
