Double Crochet is a place for people who crochet to learn from each other, from first-timers to experienced makers. These guidelines apply to comments, profiles, photos and articles you send us. They form part of our Terms of Use.

Be kind and helpful

  • Everyone was a beginner once. Answer questions patiently and give feedback the way you would want to receive it.
  • Disagree with ideas, not people. Different terms, techniques and ways of holding a hook are all welcome.
  • Stay on topic. Comments should relate to the page they are on.

Not allowed

  • Harassment, bullying, threats, hate speech or attacks on anyone based on who they are.
  • Sharing anyone's personal information, including your own phone number or address in public comments.
  • Spam, advertising, link-dropping, referral codes or affiliate links. Mentioning where you bought your yarn is fine.
  • Posting other designers' patterns, charts or photos, or links to pirated copies. Link to the designer's own page instead.
  • Content that is sexually explicit, violent, illegal or that promotes illegal activity.
  • Impersonating another person or organization, or misrepresenting who you are.
  • Misleading product claims, fake reviews, or reviews written in exchange for payment or free products without saying so.
  • Malicious links, or any attempt to disrupt the site.

Article submissions

We welcome guides, tips and patterns from readers. To give your article the best chance:

  • Write from your own experience. Submit only patterns you have made and tested from your written instructions.
  • Say which crochet terms (US or UK) you use, and give hook size, yarn weight and gauge for patterns.
  • Use your own photos, or photos you have permission to use, and describe them in the image description field.
  • Tell us if any part of your article was created with the help of AI tools.
  • Do not include affiliate links or promotional content.

Our editors review every submission before anything is published and may edit for accuracy, clarity and style.

How we moderate

Comments may be held for review before they appear. We may edit, hide or remove any content that breaks these guidelines, and we may suspend or close accounts that break them repeatedly or seriously. We try to be fair and consistent, but moderation decisions are at our discretion.

Report a problem

If you see something that breaks these guidelines, or something you posted was removed and you think we got it wrong, email contact@doublecrochet.io with a link to the page. For copyright concerns, follow our Copyright and Pattern Use policy.
